The Unix Shell
Pong.telerama.com is Telerama's public Unix machine. This is the
machine you are using when you telnet to
"telerama.com" or dial in directly (not using PPP).
Tips and tricks:
Here are some common problems and solutions:
- Programs aren't displaying correctly - Make sure you are using VT100
and not ANSI.
- Get ^H when hitting backspace - Try "stty erase ^h"
- Can't find programs - Make sure both /usr/contrib/bin and
/usr/local/bin are in your path. This should happen by default but won't
if you've created your own shell initialization (rc) files.
- Can't telnet/ftp to pong - Pong does DNS validation on incoming
connections. Your host must have a valid reverse DNS entry to connect to
pong
