Open the Windows 95 Control Panel and Double Click on the Network icon.
Verify that you have both Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP installed. If you don't, add them by clicking on the ADD button. Select 'Adapter' from the list, pick 'Microsoft' from the Manufacturers List and 'Dial-Up' from the list of Adapters. Then, select 'P
rotocols,' 'Microsoft,' and finally 'TCP/IP.' You'll need to restart your computer once these components are installed.
Double Click on the My Computer icon on the Windows 95 Desktop. Double Click on Dial-Up Networking.
Double Click on Make New Connection.
Type 'Telerama' into the 'name' field and then click on the 'Configure' button under the name of your modem.
Make a note of the COM PORT your modem is on and set the Maximum Speed to 57600.
Set your Connection Preferences to the standard settings of '8,' 'NONE,' and '1.' Make sure that you check 'wait for dial tone' in the call preferences. The Advanced Port Settings and Advanced Connection Settings should be left at their defau
lts.
Click OK. Then click Next.
Enter your local
access number in the Telephone Number field and click the Next button.
Click on the Finish button.
Now that you have made a connection to Telerama you need to configure it for our service.
RIGHT-MOUSE-CLICK on the Telerama connection and select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.
This is the way to change your dialer properties at any time.
Click on the Server Type button.
Make sure that 'Enable Software Compression' and 'TCP/IP' are the only options that are checked.
Click on the 'TCP/IP Settings' button.
Select 'Server Assigned IP Address' and 'Server assigned name server address.'
Click 'OK' to complete the network setup.
Click 'OK' at the original window to complete the Telerama dialer setup.
RIGHT MOUSE CLICK on the My Computer icon on the Windows 95 desktop and choose 'Properties' from the menu that appears.
Open the 'Device Manager' and double click on Ports, then on the COM PORT your modem is using.
Make sure that these are your settings:
Bits per second: 57600
Data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: Hardware
Double Click on the connection to Telerama.
If you have call waiting or need to dial a special number to reach an outside telephone line click on the 'Dial Properties' and make the appropriate changes.
Enter your username
code> and password and then click on 'Connect.'
