Telerama to Deliver Wireless Internet Access to the Cultural District
Pittsburgh's national UNWIRED DAY celebration at La Strada, Thurs., Sept. 25, in the Cultural District only three days away
Pittsburgh, PA - September 22,
2003 -Pittsburgh's Cultural District is coming unwired.
Telerama Internet experts in Internet connectivity for over 15
years today announced an agreement with The Pittsburgh Cultural
Trust to provide Wireless Internet access, or Wi-Fi
(Wireless Fidelity), to Pittsburgh's Cultural District. An arts
presenter, real estate and economic development catalyst, the Trust
manages the fourteen square block area downtown that is distinguished
by its grand public spaces, abundance of theaters, art galleries,
restaurants, and architecturally significant buildings, including:
Heinz Hall (home to the Pittsburgh Symphony), Benedum Center for the
Performing Arts, Byham Theater, Harris Theater, O'Reilly Theater,
Theater Square, and Wood Street Galleries.
The availability of Telerama Wi-Fi in the Cultural
District gives casual and business users the freedom to surf the
Internet on laptops, PDAs, and other mobile wireless devices, at
broadband speeds unfettered by data lines. Coverage areas at theaters
will extend to lobbies, backstage, dressing rooms, production areas,
and outside each venue. Visitors to the Cultural District will have
the ability to go online and access the Web site of any attraction at
no charge via Telerama's service. Users will also be able to log on
outdoors at Katz Plaza. Wi-Fi service is already active at three
locations in the Cultural District La Prima, La Prima
Coffeehouse at 811 Liberty Avenue, and the Pittsburgh Presse Deli at
947 Liberty Ave with many more locations to follow in the
coming months.
Telerama Wi-Fi will make the Cultural District
experience more exciting for visitors, arts patrons and those who work
downtown, said J. Kevin McMahon, Trust President and CEO.
To celebrate both the arrival of Wi-Fi service in the
Cultural District and National ONE UNWIRED DAY, Telerama and the
Pittsburgh Cultural Trust invite the public and media to a free party
at La Strada restaurant, located at 620 Liberty Avenue, from 6:00
9:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25.
We have the following schedule:
| 6:00 6:45 p.m. | Welcome, complimentary hors d'oeuvres and drinks |

| 7:30 7:30 p.m. | Mingle! The bar remains open |
At the party, La Strada will provide complimentary
hors d'oeuvres and drinks, and Telerama staff will present
Wi-Fi demonstrations and answer questions. Telerama Wi-Fi is a
valuable service that La Strada patrons especially businesspeople
will appreciate the ability to access, says Michael Frischling,
owner of La Strada restaurant and publisher of the Pittsburgh City
Paper. I expect wireless Internet access will attract customers and
be warmly received by our clientele.
Doug Luce, Founder and President of Telerama Internet says, Telerama is pleased to bring Wi-Fi to the Cultural District. Businesspeople, theater-goers and the public can now experience the convenience, flexibility, and freedom that wireless Internet access will add to their daily work and social lives.
As part of UNWIRED DAY on September 25, Telerama will
offer 24 hours of free wireless Internet service to the public at all
100 Telerama Wi-Fi HotSpots located all over Pittsburgh. A contingent
of college students, dubbed Telerama Wi-Fi Ambassadors,
will fan out to Telerama HotSpots to help educate the public about
Wi-Fi. And, Telerama staff will man tables at select Telerama Wi-Fi
HotSpots to provide the public with free demonstrations of wireless
technology, answer questions and hand out information. Other top
technology firms will host block parties in major cities nationwide,
and launch national advertising campaigns, to increase awareness of
wireless technologies. For more information about ONE UNWIRED DAY,

Wi-Fi to neighborhood, campus, and downtown locations so that business
and casual users can stroll to their favorite coffee shop, bar,
or other venue and get online. Telerama's flexible daily or
